A complete guide to structuring your photo and video coverage from morning preparations through reception at the Marigold in Somerset, New Jersey.

Morning Preparations

The Marigold has a bridal suite upstairs with room for bridesmaids and family. Right across the hall is space for the groom and groomsmen. Pro tip: the upstairs has no windows, so take 5-10 minutes to go to the cocktail room downstairs for portraits—there’s a beautiful window with shaded natural light.

First Look & Photo Shoot (30 min)

The Marigold’s iconic gazebo is perfect for your first look moment. After, we’ll move around the gazebo and pillars for couple portraits.

Family Formals

Best done in the morning when everyone is fresh. Use the gazebo or the pillar area on the right side of the venue.

Ceremony Setup (15-20 min buffer)

Allow time for photographers to capture mandap decorations before guests are seated.

Baraat (30-45 min)

Start from the end of the driveway and proceed to the venue entrance. Request staff to cone off the area. Perfect opportunity for drone footage.

Milni Ceremony

At the entrance, have your family pairings ready: mom-to-mom, dad-to-dad, siblings.

Keep garlands on standby.

Hindu Wedding Ceremony

Request venue to pull front rows back slightly for camera access. Standard rituals include mangal sutra, feras, guri puja, garland exchange, and ring exchange.

Aashirwaad Photos (1 hour for 200-300 guests)

Ensure clear entry/exit paths to the stage for efficient guest photos with the couple.

Reception Transition (1-2 hours)

Time for outfit changes while vendors prepare the reception room.

Golden Hour Photos

Use the gazebo, iconic front staircase, pillars, or fountain for evening portraits.

Reception Program

After entrances, go directly into first dance or cake cutting while energy is high.

Follow with speeches, mother-son dance, father-daughter dance, and performances.

Open Dance Floor

The first 20-30 minutes capture the highest energy. Get the couple on the dance floor!

Reception Sneakout (20 min)

Twilight photos at the gazebo or fountain make beautiful evening portraits.
